Privacy and basic visitor statistics

We use self-hosted Umami for basic statistics on public pages.

When enabled, we count pageviews and estimate daily visitors, popular public pages, referring websites, and broad device or geographic trends. We do not sell analytics data.

Analytics is hosted on our OVH server. Like any web request, an analytics request exposes your IP address and browser headers to that server. Umami derives identifiers from the website, IP address and browser information using a daily rotating salt. This groups activity within a day; it is not a persistent personal profile or a guarantee of anonymity. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the analytics database.

We send the public page path, site hostname, referring website origin, and a fixed event name for selected public navigation and contact CTA links — never URL queries or fragments, page titles, referring page paths, form contents or account IDs. We do not enable tracking cookies, cross-site identification, recordings, heatmaps, advertising tracking, automatic click capture, free-text event properties or browser error/performance monitoring. Admin, login, search, preview, contact and private/identifier-like pages are excluded. Visits with any query string or fragment are skipped entirely. On eligible public pages only, we count a fixed set of link intents: contact, documentation, case studies, GitHub, CogWars and FamilySurvival. Only a fixed event name is sent, not link text or destination URL queries/fragments. Events are counted at most once per kind per full page navigation. A contact click is intent only, not a submitted message or completed lead. We do not track contact page activity, form fields or account activity. Public goals and funnels summarize these same bounded counts; they do not add tracking. Operational security and access logs are separate from analytics.

We prune analytics daily using a 90-day cutoff; expired data may remain in restricted backups for up to seven further days. Dashboards are private. We honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control, and do not bypass blockers.

Your choice

You can disable basic analytics in this browser below. JavaScript is required to save this preference; without JavaScript, analytics does not run.

This stores only an opt-out preference in your browser, not a visitor identifier. It applies to this site and browser; clearing site storage removes the preference.
